Dario Robleto makes sculptures and installations that contain a sense of loss and mourning through the recuperation of historical facts. He received a BFA from the University of Texas, San Antonio, in 1997. Robleto recycles evocative materials such as vinyl records, carved human bone, excavated shrapnel from battlefields, and a Civil War soldier’s wooden leg to create new objects that act almost as memorials. His earliest work reflected his interest in pop music and DJ culture, and his more recent projects explore warfare from the Civil War to WWII.
