Faren Humes is a filmmaker from Miami, FL. Through an exploration of duration, Humes melds narrative and documentary conventions to souse in realities of nondisturbance to Black life. Her latest work, Liberty, has screened internationally, receiving special recognition at Berlinale, Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, SXSW, AFI Fest, New Orleans Film Festival, the Chicago International Film Festival, and the Miami Film Festival. In 2019, Humes was named one of Filmmaker magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Filmmaking. Humes lives in Miami, where she continues an ongoing body of work within the public housing community Liberty Square.
