Jason Moran is a composer and pianist whose musical creations combine the everyday with the abstract; spoken word, telephone conversations, and sonic collages all find their way into his jazz-based music. He has recorded independently with the band Bandwagon and with jazz luminaries such as Cassandra Wilson, Don Byron, and Ravi Coltrane. Moran’s 2007 multimedia creation, In My Mind: Monk at Town Hall, 1959, premiered at Duke University with follow-up performances in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, and Chicago.
