Linda Bryant is social activist, gallerist, and filmmaker. Over five decades, Bryant has committed herself to creating space and opportunities for those around her. In 1976, she opened Just Above Midtown (JAM), a New York City non-profit artists space that launched the careers of many of today’s most well-known Black artists. She also made several films, including Flag Wars (2003) with Laura Poitras.

She is the Founder and President of Active Citizen Project, which she established while filming the 2004 presidential elections. During the 2008 Global Food Crisis, She developed Project EATS, an urban farming initiative. She is a Guggenheim Fellow and a Peabody Award recipient. Bryant has a Masters of Business Administration from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in painting from Spelman College.
